Jake Paul is set to make his MMA debut in the summer of 2025.
Paul had signed a deal with the Professional Fighters League (PFL) nearly two years ago, sparking rumors about his potential debut in the cage. However, after losing to Tommy Fury in 2023, he decided to concentrate on his boxing career.
Currently, “The Problem Child” is preparing for a boxing fight against former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson, scheduled for Friday, November 15, at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The match could draw up to 90,000 spectators.
Paul’s last victory was a knockout win against ex-UFC fighter Mike Perry in July. Despite his focus on the upcoming bout with Tyson, it seems Paul is also eyeing his MMA debut in 2025. Details such as weight class and opponent are yet to be finalized.

In a recent chat with “MMA Fighting”, PFL owner Donn Davis disclosed that Paul is ready for his SmartCage debut: “He (Paul) tells me the summer of 2025”, he said. “He’s been training. If Nate Diaz would’ve accepted the fight as he did in the centre down in Dallas, he said ‘I’ll take the fight’, it would’ve happened. And then he backed away and didn’t take the fight. And then later, he was ready to take the fight, but Jake had a lot of success in boxing, so wasn’t yet ready to come back to MMA.”
He added: “You have to have timing, health, money, it all comes together, it’s very hard to do. That was one where the timing was always off between Diaz and Jake. Will Tommy (Fury) be back on next year? Don’t know. Will it be Tommy Fury? Don’t know. Will it be someone else? Don’t know. But Jake says he’s ready, but he really had so much success in boxing in his mind that it really delayed his MMA.”

PFL chief Peter Murray collaborated the story to “Bloody Elbow” last month, admitting: “Jake will continue on his boxing journey, but he is committed to making his PFL MMA debut in 2025. We have a partnership with Jake and we’re looking forward to supporting him in MMA. We’re going to stage that mega event next year and more to come on that too, that will happen.
“There’s a number of opponents who continue to line up. Conceptually this event continues to getting bigger and bigger. Jake has committed to take on a for real, legitimate fighter. So it’ll be a spectacle.”
Paul himself recently spoke up about his fighting strategy, explaining he’s down for a bout in the octagon as long as he locates an opponent who can pull crowds. “It’s just about finding the name,” Paul claimed. “We have the money, we’re ready to go, we’re ready to make offers to people but they just have to be able to draw sales.

“And it has to be a fight where it’s, like, this is my first MMA fight. So I think I can beat Nate Diaz in my first MMA fight, it would be tough of course. It’s a 50/50 fight but I don’t want to go into something where I’m going to be outclassed like fighting Khabib Nurmagomedov in my first fight. It would be very, very serious.
“I would probably start working with either Sean O’Malley’s team or maybe Javier Mendez over in California. I would take it very, very seriously, I wouldn’t want to lose and I take everything I do seriously so I would definitely go hard as —-.”
