Angel Reese not only joined Caitlin Clark in the WNBA’s history books this season but also off the court as well.

Throughout the 2024 WNBA season, Reese and Clark battled for the league’s Rookie of the Year, as the two set record after record, seemingly every night. However, Reese was forced to bow out of the race after getting surgery on her wrist, ending her historic rookie season earlier than expected.

As she continues to rehabilitate her injured wrist, she will do so knowing she has a new deal with Reebok. On Thursday, it was announced that the Chicago Sky star agreed to a multi-year contract extension with the brand.

What’s more, Reese became the sixth WNBA player to have a signature shoe, joining Clark (Nike), Sabrina Ionescu (Nike), A’ja Wilson (Nike), Breanna Stewart (Puma), and Sydney Colson (Creative Control). Though there is yet to be information on Reese’s signature sneaker, it is slated for a 2026 release.

“Reebok and Angel are growing together every day and our visions for the future are aligned,” Jide Osifeso, Reebok’s head of basketball, said to ESPN in a statement. “We’re excited to continue the relationship with a ground-up build of her signature silhouette.”

When Reese first signed with Reebok in 2023, one of the pillars the star forward was looking for was creative freedom. With Shaquille O’Neal, Reebok’s president of basketball, it didn’t take long for him to appoint Reese as one of the brand’s faces, especially with Nike and other brands chasing after her.

“For my first appointment in this role, it had to be the GOAT,” O’Neal said in a statement at the time after signing Reese to a 2023 NIL deal. “There is no one making a bigger impact on the game right now than Angel Reese.”

Earlier this year, Reese explained the other pillars and what went into her decision to sign with O’Neal and Reebok instead of other industry giants. “So many different shoe companies wanted to work with me. But I chose Reebok,” Reese shared. “What was it about Reebok? One, they don’t have a women’s basketball player [as] a face. So I wanted to be that.

“Two, Shaq. You know my relationship with Shaq,” Reese continued. “And three, I like how they’re rebranding everything and they’re letting me be the creator behind everything I want to do. So I’m having my own shoe line coming out, merch with my name on it. Y’all like what I wear, y’all like how I dress, y’all like my style. I wanted to incorporate that into Reebok.”

While Reese is expanding her portfolio by continuing her professional relationship with Reebok, Clark, her rookie rival, also is making moves of her own. Clark signed a $28 million contract with the sportswear giant, with a signature shoe also on the way at some point.

Because Nike hadn’t shared their plans with Clark yet, her fans were livid, questioning what the brand was doing by not featuring Clark more heavily in promotional materials. Additionally, the 22-year-old is set to have her own signature shoe release in 2026, though it remains unclear when exactly the sneaker will be released.
