Following their 34-10 road win over the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night, the Houston Texans poked fun at the boxing event held at the Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium this past Friday.

In an obvious reference to the boxing card headlined by Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson, the Texans’ official X account made a post quipping that there was “finally a real fight in Arlington this weekend.”

In actuality, Monday night’s game was nearly as one-sided as the boxing bout, which saw Paul easily defeat the 58-year-old Tyson by unanimous decision.

While Tyson is widely regarded as one of greatest heavyweight boxers of all time, Friday marked his first official professional bout since 2005.

Even though he looked to be in excellent physical condition for his age, he faced an opponent in Paul who was 31 years younger, and that disparity became clear a few rounds into the fight.

After looking spry and landing some solid shots in the first two rounds, Tyson appeared gassed and seemingly struggled with his footing over the final six rounds.

As his fate became obvious and Paul was largely content to stick and move without providing much sustained action, the crowd at AT&T Stadium seemed to grow restless and bored of the fight they were witnessing.

Regardless of that, Paul won the bout to improve his career record to 11-1, and he can say he defeated Tyson even though that statement likely deserves as asterisk due to Iron Mike’s age and his long layoff from the ring.

The Texans vs. Cowboys game mirrored Paul vs. Tyson to some degree in that the first half was a fairly close game with Houston only leading 17-10 at halftime.

However, the divide between the teams became obvious during the second half when the Texans outscored the Cowboys 17-0 on the strength of a defensive touchdown and running back Joe Mixon’s third rushing touchdown of the game.

In addition to trolling the Cowboys over the Paul vs. Tyson fight, the Texans also trolled them over an incident that occurred prior to Monday’s game.

A piece of the roof at AT&T Stadium fell off while the roof was being opened, and the Texans turned the piece of roof into an “L” to signify their victory over Dallas in a post on X:

Although it is difficult to argue with the Texans poking fun at Paul vs. Tyson since the fight disappointed many who tuned in, the card at AT&T Stadium wasn’t a total loss.

The co-main event saw Katie Taylor put the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring women’s lightweight titles on the line against Amanda Serrano in a rematch of their classic fight from 2022.

Taylor and Serrano put on a potential fight-of-the-year contender on Friday, as they went back and forth, providing spectators with nonstop action.

Despite landing significantly more punches and benefiting from Taylor being deducted a point for headbutts, Serrano fell to the Irish boxer again, this time by unanimous decision.

Although the decision was highly controversial, Taylor and Serrano delivered in a big way and took away some of the sting associated with the what was largely a noncompetitive fight between Paul and Tyson.
