Aaron Rodgers is said to have resisted getting scans done on injuries that he might have suffered due to his fear that the New York Jets will place him on injury reserve and potentially end his season, and potentially career with the team.
Reports have emerged that the Jets are looking to move on from Rodgers and could even make a move mid-season amid the team’s disastrous year, while some are concerned that the quarterback is carrying injuries.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport has suggested that the Jets have attempted to have Rodgers go through scans to determine the extent, with the player resisting going through tests. The 40-year-old is said to insist that he will continue to play despite carrying injuries.

The Jets have fired both head coach Robert Saleh (in October) and general manager Joe Douglas (Tuesday), two who had backed Rodgers as their quarterback amid the team’s disastrous season.
However, it has emerged that owner Woody Johnson is hoping to see the team move in a new direction next year, wanting to move on from Rodgers. The Athletic had reported that the Jets will look to place Rodgers on the injury report in the coming weeks to end his season, which might be why the veteran has refused tests.
It had also emerged that the Jets could even bench the legendary quarterback with the plan of cutting him ahead of 2025, set to hire a new general manager and head coach to look for their new signal-caller.
Shockingly, reports have also suggested that the team could even cut Rodgers during this season, potentially making him available to play elsewhere this year and perhaps even join a Super Bowl contender.
Rodgers’ disastrous season puts him in a precarious position heading into the future, with the quarterback wanting to continue to play. However, the four-time MVP has been marred with controversies in recent years, with these such reports on him refusing medical scans likely to only further questions that teams may have when considering acquiring him.
Despite his struggles this season, Rodgers still boasts impressive numbers with 17 touchdowns to seven interceptions. In comparison, Patrick Mahomes has thrown 15 touchdowns to 11 interceptions.
But the Jets will have to make a big call if they are to move on from Rodgers, with cutting him meaning they’ll eat a large chunk of his cap space in 2025 and meaning they’ll struggle to allocate funds to strengthen after a disappointing year.
