NFL analyst Ryan Clark has revealed that New England Patriots legend Bill Belichick has made a routine of regularly being late to his appearances on Inside the NFL.

The iconic head coach and general manager departed his post at Gillette Stadium at the end of last season following a storied 23-year spell at the helm. Since then, the six-time Super Bowl winner has been keeping busy with a host of broadcasting gigs including roles on ESPN’s ManningCast and The Pat McAfee Show.

In addition to these appearances, the 72-year-old has also been a regular on the mic on the Let’s Go! and Coach podcasts as he embraces a new chapter following his Patriots exit. However, one co-star has now revealed that Belichick has already got into some regrettable habits since assuming his new role in front of the camera.

Speaking on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Inside the NFL favorite Clark said: “All the time. Shocking. And you talk to all his players, all he did was take their money every time they were late. The first day he walked in late and I thought it was this cool, ‘I’m the greatest coach of all time, I know you can’t tell me anything,’ sort of walk in late.

“So, we just all clapped for him because this is freaking Bill Belichick, right? … But he’s late every week, he continued, as he saw the amusing side of Belichick’s antics. “The funny part is he’s late for everything… And guess what? None of us tell him anything and we act like we’ve been waiting for him and it’s OK.”

Despite this faux pas on the part of the veteran coach, Clark has been impressed with his colleague’s broadcasting ability, adding: “He’s actually really good on television and he’s probably going to hate that I say this, if he said all the stuff on TV that he says in the meetings, you’d love him even more. He hates everything.”

Bill Belichick

Bill Belichick criticized Jerod Mayo’s comments about his Patriots team

However, reviews of Belichick’s showings on the screen have not all been positive, with Bostonian radio host Fred Toucher among his dectractors. Speaking on the Toucher and Hardy show on 98.5 The Sports Hub, he contended: “Good old Belichick, who bad-mouthed the team again last night.

“He is such a d—. I can’t believe Patriots fans don’t look at the guy now and think, ‘What a petty little p—-.’ Because even when they do well, he doesn’t give them credit for doing well.”

“When they do bad, I can see him crapping all over them, right? Because at least that’s in the guise of doing your job. But when they do good, and you don’t give them any credit… Literally make the statement ‘Well, it’s really not so much about the Patriots as it is the Bears.’ That’s holding a vendetta.”

That said, when responding to Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo calling his team “soft” earlier in the season, Belichick hit back on ESPN’s Pat McAfee Show, asserting : “It’s a lot of the same players from last year. I’m kinda hurt for those guys because to call them soft, they are not soft. They were the best team in the league last year against the run. I feel bad for the defensive players on that one.”
