Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were spotted with noticeably different warm-up styles ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 5 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. The Chiefs’ star duo prepared in contrasting ways before leading their team to a 26-13 victory on Monday Night Football at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

In a moment that captured fans’ attention, Mahomes and Kelce stood on the field as country duo Haley & Michaels performed the national anthem.

ESPN shared a TikTok clip of the two during the anthem, highlighting their vastly different approaches to pre-game focus.

Mahomes, the two-time NFL MVP, stood with his hands clasped behind his back, expressionless and composed.

Kelce, however, showcased his energetic side, lightly bouncing on his feet with his right hand over his heart, embodying his playful and upbeat personality.

Fans were quick to notice and comment on the striking contrast between Mahomes’ intense demeanor and Kelce’s lively spirit. “Travis is a literal golden retriever,” one fan joked, while another wrote, “Travis: ‘I’m a happy, happy dog.’ Pat: ‘Can you behave?’”

Other fans humorously speculated about their childhood personalities, with one saying, “As a teacher, it’s so easy to know exactly what these two were like as kids.” Another remarked, “Introvert and extrovert are the best kind of friends. Ain’t nothing better.”

The contrasting energy levels seemed to work in Kelce’s favor that night; he posted a season-high nine receptions for 70 yards, helping drive the Chiefs’ offense.

Mahomes, however, had an unusually quiet game by his standards, completing 28 of 29 passes for 331 yards but finishing with no touchdowns and one interception.

The Chiefs went on to extend their undefeated record to 5-0. After a Week 6 bye, they faced the San Francisco 49ers, coming away with a 28-18 victory in Week 7.

However, Mahomes struggled with accuracy, completing only 16 of 27 passes for 154 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions. He managed to contribute on the ground, though, with five rushing attempts for 39 yards and a touchdown.

Kelce also had a quieter outing with four receptions for 17 yards but continued to be a valuable asset in the team’s ground game. Running back Kareem Hunt, who rushed 22 times for 78 yards and two touchdowns, praised Kelce’s commitment as a blocker. “I can tell he’s got to make those big blocks… he’s been doing a big job of finishing. I appreciate that from him,” Hunt said following the Week 7 win.

Now, with a perfect record on the line, the Chiefs look ahead to their Week 8 matchup against division rivals, the Las Vegas Raiders.

Fans will be eager to see how Mahomes and Kelce’s unique personalities and contrasting warm-up styles translate into their on-field performances as they aim to keep their unbeaten streak alive.
