Simone Biles has explained why she’s unlikely to be bonding with pop star Taylor Swift anytime soon despite their mutual NFL interest.

The superstar Team USA gymnast and Swift have both entered the same world as partners of two NFL stars. While Swift is the girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, Biles is married to Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens.

Despite finding themselves in the same circle, it appears that Biles has deflected any chance of the two bonding with them not yet crossing paths during NFL action as their beau’s two teams are not slated to play each other this season. A pre-season victory for the Bears came in August, so soon after Biles made history at Paris 2024, becoming the most decorated gymnast in history, taking her collection up to seven Olympic gold medals, two silvers, and two bronze in France.

In a recent interview with Access Hollywood during the premiere of her Netflix documentary: ‘Simone Biles Rising: part 2’. Biles said that she hasn’t “bonded” with Swift yet but admitted that it may not happen anytime soon. “No, I’m currently on tour so unfortunately not. I’ve missed a lot of games but as soon as we finish tour then yes. But you usually don’t bond with opponents,” she said.

As she referred to, Biles is currently on her ‘Gold Over America’ tour, which has seen her miss her husband’s recent NFL games. After being a regular fixture at the Chiefs games last season, Swift has also been absent from the Arrowhead Stadium and appears likely to do so in the immediate future as she finishes off her ‘The Eras Tour’, playing in Los Angeles over the weekend.

It appears the only chance this season of seeing the two cross paths is if the Chiefs and Bears were to meet each other in the post-season. The back-to-back Super Bowl champions are the only faultless team remaining in the league, while Chicago sit bottom of the National Football Conference North, although they hold a positive record of 4-2.

Swift and Biles have both been in attendance to watch their partners in action, with Owens playing for the Green Bay Packers last season in Wisconsin against Kelce’s Chiefs. The Packers got the better of the eventual Super Bowl champions 27-19. Despite sharing the terraces together, Biles confirmed that the pair did not meet.

Biles told Vanity Fair magazine that they were both seated in different sections before joking: “I’m not sure they were exactly happy that the Packers were beating them.”

However, Biles are Swift are known to each other after Biles began her dominant floor routine in Paris to Swift’s 2017 hit ‘Ready For It?’. The 14-time Grammy winner reacted to the use of her song as she commented on a highlight video of the routine, writing: “Watched this so many times and still unready. She’s ready for it tho.”
