Chris Brickley has made a bold prediction about Victor Wembanyama, claiming the towering prodigy is destined to bag multiple MVP titles following an enlightening conversation with his trainer.

As a renowned guru for NBA hotshots, Brickley has been monitoring the massive advancements of the 7-foot-3-inch phenom since his top-draft pick selection by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2023 NBA draft and for good reason.

The whiz kid has shattered records left and right in the NBA, notably snagging the title of the first to notch a triple-double that astonishingly included blocks and numerous threes all within one epic match.

The record-breaking didn’t stop there; Wembanyama also became the player to tally up over 75 threes, 150 assists, and 150 blocks in a mere span of a single season and it took him just 48 games to accomplish this feat.

To sweeten his burgeoning career even further, he matched NBA legends Tim Duncan and David Robinson as the only rookies to score at least 30 points, get 10 rebounds, dish out five assists, and deny five shots in a single outing back in March, which was clinched by a 117-105 victory against the Indiana Pacers.

With such an impressive suite of achievements in so short a time on the NBA hardwood, it’s no shocker that basketball fans everywhere are buzzing about how high Wembanyama’s star can rise. The basketball mentor recently appeared on the Pardon My Take podcast where hosts Big Cat and PFT Commenter inquired: “How much of a freak is a guy like Wemby? Given his size, stature and ability to shoot.”

Brickley responded to the question, saying: “Wemby is the future of the league. I think he’ll be MVP multiple times. He worked with Jamal Crawford closely this summer, that was his trainer – and Jamal was telling me ‘We’ve mastered the Melo [Carmelo Anthony] footwork, we’ve mastered the Dirk [Nowitzki] footwork, he goes to sleep every night at 8.30pm… he’s like a machine.

“If he stays healthy I think he’ll be one of the greatest players we’ve ever seen.” Both Anthony and Nowitzki are known for their exceptional footwork on the court, often leaving opponents confused and going in the wrong direction with their feints. It seems Wembanyama is trying to improve his game in the same area by training with Crawford.

The center was named NBA Rookie of the Year in May after winning unanimously, as well as being named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team – not only the youngest player to achieve this in NBA history but also the first rookie to do so.

Brickley was an avid basketball player in his time before realizing it wasn’t his long-term future. After serving as a grad assistant at Ole Miss and an assistant with Fairleigh Dickinson, Brickley secured an internship with the New York Knicks. His life changed forever when the aforementioned Anthony missed a game-winning shot.

Despite being instructed not to engage with the talent post-game, Brickley went against the grain and showed empathy, a decision which ultimately led to Carmelo Anthony hiring him as a trainer. Years down the line in 2024, Brickley is now the go-to coach for NBA legends such as Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, and even LeBron James.

Sharing his coaching philosophy with the NBA, Brickley revealed: “There are no magic drills. It’s just about communication and building a relationship,” and emphasized his non-didactic teaching approach by stating: “I think it’s a lead-by-example thing.

“[The lessons apply to your] mindset after practice, attitude after bad games, film study, in-season work ethic, and a ton of off-court life decisions.”
