Ian Poulter, one of the original luminaries of LIV Golf, has disclosed that he and his Majesticks teammates are already scouting for potential new talent to join their ranks.
Since the inception of the breakaway circuit at Centurion Club in June 2022, Poulter has been a fixture at every event, co-captaining the Majesticks alongside former European Ryder Cup allies Lee Westwood and Henrik Stenson.
Despite the trio nearing the twilight of their careers, their lineup heading into 2025 remains intact with Sam Horsfield completing the team. Yet, Poulter acknowledges the inevitability of stepping down eventually and suggests that plans are afoot for succession.
Speaking to Sports Illustrated about the prospect of retiring from play, Poulter remarked: “At some stage it’s inevitable.”

He added, “It will naturally happen, I think. We’re trying personally for it not to happen as quick as some might want. But, you know, we’ve earmarked within the world golf system a platform to kind of work out who would be a good fit within our team, who would be an A ranked player, B ranked player, C, D and E.
“And really try and look at what options could be available to us and at what time they would be available to us. So, behind-the-scenes that work is already being done.”
The LIV Golf league’s transfer window opens at the end of each season, allowing teams to make changes to their line-ups. The Majesticks won’t be making any moves this time, but are prepared to jump into the market as early as next year.
“It’s not for public knowledge of who sits on the A, B, C, D and E list but internally we have been thinking about it,” added the European stalwart.

“The team have been thinking about it and again James [Dunkley] and Ollie [Banks] are doing what they need to do to be able to, you know, keep that in mind with how things are going to progress over the next 12, 24 [and] 36 months.”
Poulter’s 2024 season ended in September, with the Majesticks finishing ninth in the Team Championship. On an individual level, the former PGA Tour player’s season ended a week earlier at LIV , where he finished 37th in the season-long standings, just behind Westwood and Stenson.
Poulter wrapped up his campaign with his best performance of the year, finishing the event in fifth place, five shots behind champion Jon Rahm.
