NFL’s Monday Night Football hosted the Battle of the Brothers, as John Harbaugh’s Baltimore Ravens beat Jim Harbaugh’s Los Angeles Chargers.
Super Bowl hopefuls, the Ravens, coached by John Harbaugh, went on the road at a revitalized Chargers, coached by former Michigan Wolverines 2023 national championship-winning HC Jim Harbaugh at the SoFi Stadium. Baltimore won by one score, 30-23, as reigning MVP and 2024 favorite Lamar Jackson threw for 177 yards, two touchdowns and a rushing touchdown.
The win pushed the Ravens to 8-4, while the defeat saw the Chargers drop to 7-4. However, the Harbaugh brothers are likely to both reach the playoffs this year with impressive winning regular seasons. The older brother John, 62, got one over on his younger brother Jim, 60, who re-joined the NFL as a head coach following a 13-year absence – but delivered a loving message.

“I just told [Jim Harbaugh], ‘You’re a great coach, and you have a great team, and I love you.’ And he said, ‘I love you and congratulations.’ It was good. Yes’,” John Harbaugh said in his post-game press conference. John also hailed his younger brother as the best coach in the league.
“You kind of live these things close to your heart, and these are just huge battles,” John said. “[There are] huge battles every week in this league, and going against a team that is this well-coached, by all of their coaches and by my brother, Jim [Harbaugh] – the best coach in the National Football League – what he’s done with that team and how hard they play, and what they did, hats off to them, because they’re going to win a lot more football games this year, and they’re going to be a major factor in the playoffs.”
Jim Harbaugh relayed the same. “Oh, he said the same thing. Congratulated him on the victory. And man, love you,” Jim said after the game.

With Thanksgiving coming up, Jim’s tribute to his family continued. “Thankful for my two great loves, my family at home and my family at work,” he said.
“Both have been just an incredible source of love. And I’m just grateful for those two loves, family at home, my family at work, been incredible.”
“Yeah, it’s every week at this level,” Jim continued on what the Chargers need to do going forward. “I think everybody pours an incredible amount of effort and everything they have into these games. I was really pleased with our effort, valiant effort, and their side of the ball had valiant effort as well.”
