Giants icon and former defensive end turned NFL analyst Michael Strahan took a stray shot at Aaron Rodgers while discussing the future of his beloved team. After the release of QB Daniel Jones and the Giant’s organization seemingly falling into pieces, the ex-DE found solace in knowing that the Jets are also struggling with Rodgers under center.
The seven-time NFL Pro Bowler opened up his NFL on Sunday monologue by criticizing his former organization’s recent decision to part ways with Jones following a temporary benching. The decision to move forward from Jones came less than two years after the team gave him a four-year $160 million deal with $92 million guaranteed.
Strahan urged the Giants to consider young quarterback options while expressing optimism about the team’s future, mainly through the NFL Draft. But before piling on more of the Giants’ problems, the NFL analyst couldn’t resist taking a dig at the city-rival Jets, who have a 3-8 record with Rodgers at the helm this season.

“There’s one thing you can feel good about as a Giants fan,” Strahan said during the broadcast as he pounded the table confidently. “The Jets suck too this year. They both missed on quarterbacks.” The comment was directly aimed at Rodgers, who is performing under his league averages in nearly every statistic this year.
The 63.4 competition percentage is the lowest in his 2019 season with the Green Bay Packers. Rodgers has an 88.9 QB rating this season which is the lowest of his 20-year NFL seasons where he’s played more than three games in a season.
The Super Bowl XLII believes the solution lies in the draft, where the Giants are projected to hold a top-five pick. Early mock drafts link the team to star prospects such as Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, Miami’s Cam Ward, or Alabama’s Jalen Milroe.

“When you kept Jones, you missed out on [Michael] Penix Jr, [JJ] McCarthy, Bo Nix. You need a QB to win, no matter how many great players you have. In this upcoming draft, this is a big draft for the Giants with guys coming up in the draft. We got a shot.”
Strahan said that the Giants decision to let Barkley walk and keep Jones over was a huge mistake and called the Eagles running back an MVP candidate. Despite the critique that played out for all to see on Hard Knocks, Strahan recognized the positives of general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll’s tenure.
“Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll have gotten a lot of flack, but they’ve done some good things in New York,” Strahan said. “Was this a big mistake that went on with Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley? Absolutely. But some of the things they did get right were [drafting] Thibodeaux, [Wan’Dale] Robinson, [Tyrone] Tracy, and [Malik] Nabors.”
