Tom Brady is reportedly set to be given a major role in the Las Vegas Raiders rebuild despite his role with FOX potentially complicating his role.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion purchased a 10 percent stake in the Raiders in May 2023 after reaching an agreement with Mark Davis. The Raiders are hoping that Bradys knowledge and connection with the NFL can propel them towards a Super Bowl challenge but there are more immediate problems for Las Vegas, who hold a 4-12 record with head coach Antonio Pierce under pressure.
Raiders owner Davis and FOX Sports CEO Eric Shanks discussed Bradys shared involvement before his part-ownership was approved, with Brady tied to the network on a 10-year, $375million deal. As a result, Bradys broadcasting career has seen him limited in the production of his interviews and work to avoid a conflict of interest and give the Raiders an advantage by speaking privately with players or attending team bases and potentially gathering information.
Brady appears to be crucial to Davis plans amid speculation surrounding Pierces future after only becoming the full-time head coach this past offseason. Speaking on the Raiders decision regarding Pierce, NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport revealed that Brady is set to play a major part in the Raiders’ rebuild despite not being in a similar position as a player to Las Vegas current issues.
Raiders owner Mark Davis was fired up in the locker room after his team snapped a ten-game losing streak last week. But my understanding based on conversations with people around the league is that Antonio Pierces future as head coach remains in serious doubt, Rapoport said.
Davis has said only that he will evaluate everything after the season. His new minority owner Tom Brady has never been a part of anything like 3-12 and has been speaking with various people about how to get it fixed.
Also the Raiders’ biggest star player Maxx Crosby, who has said he wants to be a Raider for life, also wants to win and is going to be watching very closely to see what steps they take to make that happen. Of course, Bradys got a lot of connections around the league, including his former team-mate Mike Vrabel, who is going to be a hot head coaching candidate this cycle.
Davis previously said that Brady had an undefined role within the Raiders. “He communicates quite often [with the ownership group], but it’s not a day-to-day role. His role is undefined right now. However, Bradys role now may have become clear amid the Raiders also looking for a quarterback as a priority ahead of next season.
Hes competitive and hes very thorough in everything he does, Davis added on what Brady will bring to the Raiders decision-making. He has an innate way of communicating that other people can understand. I am excited and really grateful that hes part of the Raiders organization.
